'Sample'/Pooled sample/ 'Physical Sample'

Respected,

 

I have some work experience in fabrication industry and having procurement inspection with Plates,Bolts & Nuts.

 

We receive Bolts in gunny bags and carry out the receiving inspection.

 

Ex:up to 5000 bolts we take 5 bolts(5 sample units /5 samples ) and carry out  characteristics inspection.Generally we call as '5 samples'.

 

Head A/f- 5 (S.procedure) x1pc(sample unit)  =5pc

Head a/c-5 x1 pc=5pc

Thickness-5x1pc=5pc------ In this case we take 5pc(5 samples) as Total sample size

 

In SAP,it is noting  "Pooled sample"&"Physical samples" in more areas.Please guide me here if 5000 bolts received in 10 bags(10x500no's) in terms of QPV2.


Very Important this basic guidance will be much more helpful for learning SAP QM further.

QM_Change of base unit of measure not possible

Dear QM Experts,

 

Scenario is,

 

1.     Material master created with QM view activation.

2.     The Base Unit of Measure kept as EA

3.     Inspection plan prepared for material with usage 5 and status 4.

4.     Material has not undergone any purchase order / production order / routing or any other transactions except inspection plan.

5.     No movements have done and the stock is zero

6.     The requirement is to change Base Unit of Measure from EA to KG

 

When tried through MM02 system throws an error message as The base unit of measure cannot be changed; choose "Display errors" Message no. M3189

 

When viewed through log another information gets displayed as Routings already exist that are assigned to the material. Task list type Q.

 

I tried through trial and error method. First material assignment was deleted from task list, problem did not resolve. Thereafter deletion flag put to task list. No impact. At last entire task list deleted. Still system does not allow changing unit.

Has anybody faced the same problem ever? Whether deletion of task list (By T-Code QSR6) from data base will server the purpose? What are the obligations that one must follow while execution QSR6?

 

Or if there is any other solution to this requirement?

Inspection Lot Stock Tab - To Be Posted to Unrestricted-Use Stock

Please guide me for:

 

At the time of UD,sometimes i forget to enter the unrestricted stock quantity in inspection lot stock tab therefor quantity does not transfer into unrestricted stock and  its shown in QI.So,i want to make it mandatory.please suggest me,How to do it?

Activating Quality at secodary storage location

Hello Masters,

 

 

I’m new to SAP QM Please help..

 

 

My client wants to do GR for process order at storage location
001 in plant ABCD then do STO (possibly partial qty) to another location 002 in
plant ABCD with quality inspection then do dispatch after UD completion.

 

 

Please guide me how to get this requirement done in SAP. If possible
please help me on step by step process and movement types involved & quality
inspection types used in this scenario.

Required Error Message for To Unrestricted Use field in QA11

kindly,suggest me for:

 

In QA11 i have made mandatory to To unrestricted Use field in Inspection Lot stock tab but it just pass an error message in only Inspection Lot Stock tab.I want to pass this same error message in Characteristics Tab also.so,what should i do for this?

Certificate Profile Printing from Warehouses Issue

Dear Expert

 

We have requirement to be able to Print COAs from Delivery shipping points. Shipping point can be the production plant itself or the warehouses where we send goods from the production plants and sell it from there.

 

When we Produce , Quality Test and Sell the goods from our production plants to customers , it works fine. We have used inspection origin 03 to get the test result for the Bulk Chemicals inspection lot result and Print into the COA for Packaged chemical products.

 

But When we send the same packaged product to our warehouses , we do not send COA s (as we don't know whom we are going to sell those products at that time and warehouse don't want ) , but we need the ability to print COAs from warehouse (plant Y in SAP) for that packaged product which actually produced in Plant X with batch B1 and Tested in same plant X. Business need is to print COA for same batch B1 from warehouses for required customer from the shipping points, though we only do Quality Checks for the products in our Production Plants (using Inspection Lots) and no test carried out at our warehouses.

 

Is there a standard way to refer to batch B1 results in plant X while printing the COA from warehouses (plant Y)?

Inspection Plan selection based on Ship-to party

The scenario is Inspection lot creation from MIGO for Production order.

Inspection type # 04 has been implemented and used user exit # QPAP0002 used to pick up Inspection Plan based up on Ship-to party

 

But the code is not working and relevant Inspection Plan is not being picked up.

Did any one come across this issue & if you know solution please guide us

FAQ: Assigned Objects in Quality Notification

Objective

 

This FAQ provide answers to repeated asked questions regarding a new functionality: Assigned Objects in Quality Notification.

Technical Name of the Business Function: EHP 4

OPS_QM_NOTIFICATION and OPS_QM_EXTENSIONS

 

 

What is Assigned Objects in Quality Notification?

 

You can assign multiple objects (batches, serial numbers..) to a notification at ITEM LEVEL. This enables you better document problems or errors.



How can I activate Assigned Objects in Quality Notification?


Please make sure that you have activated the EHP4 with business function OPS_QM_NOTIFICATION and all its dependencies e.g. EA-PLM and OPS_QM_EXTENSIONS.

You would see that there should be a separate tab in Item level for the assigned objects.

Please go to customization below to add the new tab. The screen area number is 840.

QM > Quality notification>  'Overview of notification type'



During results recording does it generate a single notification for all batches/serial numbers?


No, the functionality Assigned Objects is not integrated with defect recording, this is missing functionality.

 

 

How can I select and import multiple batch numbers to the Quality Notification?


You have two options:

- You can enter ranges:

When you enter a range (such as 1 - 5), the system adopts all batches and/or serial numbers where the key is between 1 and 5 as assigned objects in the notification item.

 

- You can enter generic values:

When you enter a range (such as 5  * ), the system adopts all batches and/or serial numbers where the key is starts with 5 as assigned objects in the notification item.

 

 

Where can I find more information about Assigned Objects?


You can find in transaction SFW5 the prerequisites of activation of business function OPS_QM_NOTIFICATION using button 'Dependencies' and a detailed documentation and release information using the correspondent buttons next to the business function.

Inspection Lot is not creating for STO 1 Step procedure

Hello Gurus,

 

 

As for Material A we are using inspection type 01 currently

 

Scernario- Same company code, same plant , storage loc1 to storage loc 2 transfer, 1 step procedure with GI 647 and GR 101 automatic

 

Currently User create a STO with UB document type, create delivery, Good issue by using movement type 647 and as sson as good issue is posted, system will post goods receipt

 

Requirment -  Need to generate the Inspection lot at receiving storage location 2.

 

Setup done -  Activated 08 inspection type for Material A in MMR QM View with Post to Insp. stock checked. In customizing SPRO-->QM-->Quality inspection-->inspection lot creation--> inspection for goods moment. ...QM is active

Movement Type/Update Control/Inspection Lot Origin -  Inspection lot origin is 08

 

 

When I post Good Issue, system is not creating any inspection lot

 

Please suggest, I am doing any step wrong

Is there a way to link a defect record to a sample unit result

Hi, my example is...

- inspection lot sample size is 10

- 4 of the sample units are rejected

- several different defects have been found for those 4

- so how can I specify defect 1 is for rejected sample unit 1, defect 2 is for rejected sample unit 4, etc?

 

It seems to me all the defects entered in the defect recording for an inspection lot assume to be for each of the rejected sample units... and sometimes this is not the situation.  Is there a report type or report category that will provide a field(s) to enter this information?

problem in confirmation cancellation for QM active material ?

Hi Gurus,

 

this is a Standard error but i am not able to understand even after searching in SCN. i have activates inspection type 04 for a FG material . stock is getting posted in Quality when i confirms the Production order (AUTO GR) i am processing the INSP lot posting the stock in to unrestricted . up to hear everything  is fine .

 

when i am trying to cancel the confirmation system is thoroughgoing error like deficit of QM stock.  system is posting the stock back to floor(262) if the stock in Quality without error.

 

but it is giving error if  the stock posted to UNRESTRICTED, i have tried to do the stock transfer but hear also  i am facing the error " please process the material through QM"

 

i have activated only 04 inspection type for the FG, so can anybody Guide me how to sent back the FG  material  for which the inspection type is Active.

 

 

even i tried to cancel the material doc through MBST hear also system not allowed because it is auto generated doc. please guide  me .

Change the inspection stock of material xxxx in QM only

Hi,

 

I am facing error at the time of GR in MIGO as below:

"Change the inspection stock of material xxxx in QM only"

 

1. I have created material with QM view wherein I have activate inspection type 01.

    Note: In default value of inspection type 01, there is no check mark for Post to insp. stock. I have marked this check box for the said material.

2. Created PO.

3. Try to do GR in MIGO but facing above error.

 

Case 2:

Inspection lot do not get created even inspection type 01 is activated in above case when check mark is not tick for Post to insp. stock. As per my understanding inspection lot should create & stock should post to unrestricted.

 

Please clear this.

Generate Inspection lot operation when needed

Hi

We are using inspection lots to record supplier results for certain raw materials.

We now need to include our own test results to these inspection lots.

To accomplish this we’re thinking of using the same inspection plan with a 2nd operation.

This will enable us to generate one inspection lot per GR while recording two types of results (i.e. Op1 = Supplier, Op2 = Own).

The inspection lot will always have results from Supplier, but we might only internally test every 10th delivery (GR).

Is it possible to generate the 2nd operation (i.e. Own results) when needed?

Or any other elegant approach/process?

Long Text Issue in QE11

In Tx QE11 when i enter some description in long text field then system is  just picking double value.

For exact details of my issue, please go through the below screen shot and suggest me best solution.

 

1. Enter some text and giving space just below the  4th position as per scale of the word.

Mass Uasge Decision on 01 inspection type

HI,

     I am trying to do a mass UD on a number of 01 inspection lots. I am trying QA16 but it is not bringing up the inspection lots. QA33 is showing them although they are not completed.

 

I am entering my plant, INsp.lot origin and inspection lot number(s) and nothing is coming up. Is there something i am missing on this or can a mass UD even be done 01 inspection lots?

Please help me out on , while doing the UD for particular lot system is telling " Target values not found" where do i maintain target values in QM. There is one place i find target values field in MIC, i have maintained even though system is through error message.

I am implementing SAP QM fro hpp iron industry, My requirement is user wants the inspections with respect to quantity basis of finished goods. They don't want all specifications to be recorded in the system. They want to accept the inspection lots on the basis of quantity of material. How to go about this, what are steps we need to follow for this scenario.

 

Can you share your thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Destructive Samples with Handling Units

Dear Experts,

 

 

I just wanted to check if there's anyone who has encountered destructive inspection for samples with Handling Units and how this was managed (via enhancements/operational workaround).

 

Based on SAP KBA 1771624, destructive sampling will not work for HU due to all or nothing approach. We are currently considering the following options but would like to get your insights on this in case there is a better approach for this problem.

 

1. During Goods Receipt, sample usage quantity will be packed in separate HU from the rest of the quantity. This option will work provided that sample usage quantity is known before quality inspection. e.g. I will recieve 100 pcs of MAT A, 15 pcs for sample usage will be packed under HU1 and the remaining 85 pcs under HU2. UD stock posting will be performed in 2 steps, 1st for GI to sample usage for HU2 and 2nd for transfer to unrestricted/blocked/etc. for HU2

 

2. Receive full quantity under 1 HU. Complete quality inspection (results recording, ud and stock posting). Unpack the material to be able to perform GI to sample for the quantity that was used for destructive inspection.
